THE BIG IDEA:
This is part 2 of a 4-part series on Philippians. This lesson's big idea is that God calls us to get out there and make NOTHING of ourselves. Our culture, schools, and even our parents teach us to promote ourselves to get good things, but Jesus did just the opposite. He emptied Himself. That's our best path, too.
HOW TO USE THIS:
This Bible study can be used "on the fly" or with a little more preparation. The quickest way to go through the material is to skip the activities and all the commentary and just use the Scriptures and the bolded outline. If you've already got a good handle on the concepts and God's Word, this can provide you with a little lesson structure.
However, if you have more time to prepare and/or would like to break up your teaching, we hope you'll find the activities as helpful object lessons to reinforce the big ideas of the lesson. The commentary is not necessarily meant to be taught "thought for thought." It's included here to help you gain and teach a greater understanding of the Scriptures covered.
